Sonic needed this more than anything. He hadn't really trained with his power since he arrived at the Garden. He had several buckets of ready for him as he stood in the training room, concentrating on his power. With a raise of his palm, the water in one bucket rose in midair, floating calmly and beautifully. Sonic kept it five feet in the air as he walked to it, and touched it. The floating ball of water had frozen instantly into a ball of Ice. With an effortless flick of his wrist he sent the Ice flying around the room. He stopped it before it had impact to the wall, and outstretched his arms. The ice began to change form; bend to his will. He turned it into an inch thick wall of ice that was very thin but very round. He finally flung the ice at the wall, shattering it into millions of ice shards.

Slow, quiet clapping interrupted Sonic's play. In the doorway of the room, Erk stood, one eyebrow raised slightly, lightly clapping. Behind him, just out of sight, Peren stood watching silently. "Your progression has been encouraging, Sonic. You seem to be doing well for yourself here." The elven wizard crossed into the room, continuing towards the ice adept. "However, it seems that you've been involved in several... incidents, here. Many of them involve overstepping your bounds. A certain trip to a cave comes to mind." Erk stopped his advance at the edge of the training circle. "I fear that you overestimate your abilities, impressive as they are. Come... why don't you show me what you're capable of?" The grayed elf beckoned towards his young ward, and Peren advanced to Erk's side. "Have you met Peren yet? He's a capable young lad, and I'm sure he's up to the same speed as you. Why not match your skills against him? He's just as new here as you are." Erk left the center of the room, taking a place near one of the corners, leaving the short, slender elfling facing Sonic. "Well? Show us what you have. Begin!" _________________ I think, therefore, I'm a liberal.

"Begin" was enough to make Shinu delay his training for a little while. The voice was Erk's for sure, but he couldn't imagine who Erk would be sparring with. Clearly no one in the Garden could stand up to Erk from a power standpoint, not even if he could sustain his double summon could he try. Sliding through the door, he realized that Erk wasn't going to spar anyone, he was relieved to see that. Thinking about Erk in a sparring match was like imagining an aethiest walk into the Galbadian Army camp. At any rate, it was Peren and Sonic. Shinu took a seat next to Erk. This should be interesting to say the least._________________ Poem: A Jimi original Image: Mia's great work!

Sonic spun around to find the source of the clapping. It was someone he had never met before, an elvin wizard. He wasn't expecting company, so he stood there, listening to this man judge him. Sonic didn't blame him. He had made some unwise descisions of late, but none of which he thought he couldn't handle. As the wizard stepped closer, a younger one stood behind him. Peren was his name, as Erk the wizard had stated. He smiled at the wizards' idea. As Erk had said "Begin", Sonic took a step back to prepare. Shinu had stepped in to watch. How interesting how one little practice of his powers could turn into a test of them as well. Sonic gave a polite nod to Peren, his light blue hair hanging over his face. "Alright then!" He shouted. His expression was calm as he quickly grabbed one of his cantines and opened it. He flung out the water high in the air and froze it immediately. As the ice fell to chest level Sonic jump 180 degrees and back-kicked it with full momentum. The ice rocketed toward Peren, shattering into thousands of tiny sharp shards in midair that were still flying towards him. In one second Sonic created ice that would shred anyone into peices. He wasn't going to start easy.

A breath, and a flick of the wrist, and the shower of glittering blades burst into powder. The thin snow flew back, scattering to the corners of the room, and all within it felt the residue of the waves of force that burst from Peren. Watching the dust, one could see the invisible force still radiating from the young psion, albeit faintly. Peren took the offensive then, focus lining his brow, as from his wrist launched a dim, translucent orb, pulsing within. The projectile flew unerringly across the room, and just as it reached the ice adept, it shattered, bursting into a storm of tearing force. Sonic, if his reflexes weren't fast enough, was caught in a purple maelstrom of kinetic blades. _________________ I think, therefore, I'm a liberal.
