It's been just over 3 years since FFD opened, and it's been a close knit community, one which we've all been able to share our problems together, talk freely and discuss any kind of topic that we wanted, from Final Fantasy to problems with school.

Unfortunately, the decision was made to archive the board while it still had some minimal activity, rather than let spammers come and take over, which I think we will all agree on. Although there was the fair share of drama, people leaving and not much activity, the fact that we managed to keep it going until now is a statement to say that we weren't going to let it go down without trying our best to keep it open.

So after 3 years, 50000 posts and over 1000 topics later, with one of the best and closest communities on the web, FFDiscussion has closed on the 1st December 2010

(At the crack of dawn, the adventurers leave their home town, Zetheran, and set out for Luminesca. They venture into the deep forest of Kina, massive in area and lurking with danger.)

Kel stared back into the city, lit up and beautiful at nightfall.
"Are we ready?" her voice was flat, devoid of emotion.
The trees that usually looked lush and healthy green had a contradictive look at night; the trees clung with vines and leaves fluttered to the ground. An uneasy silence hung in the air as the members of the party advanced.

Akame~Soren wrote:
Sorel sniffed the air and turned to look at his party members. He didn't know them well, and from the looks of it, this journey was going to be a long one...better get friendly soon...
"So, what's up?" He said to nobody in particular as they proceeded into the leafy-floored forest.

Night was calm and silent, enlighten with beautiful crimson lights that were spreading from Zetheran devouring darkness that laid around. This was first time Aardeth was to leave on a journey so far away, so far he ventured nowhere but regions around and those were two day trips or so, but now he was to find real adventure.

"Are we ready?" he heard Kel asked whole group and Aardeth was first to reply "More than we shall ever be." he spoke, his voice almost like trembling but it was just the coolness of the air that made him shiver. Aardeth cast a look over his equipment to check if he has everything needed. His katana was safely tied around his belt and his staff safely in his hands, that was all he was going to need on this journey.

"So, what's up?" Aardeth heard Sorel speak to nobody while looking at the forest they were heading to. Coming from behind Aardeth gave him a slight punch over the shoulder and replied "Come on don't be so stiffed up. This journey is to be fun only as much as we allow it." Proceeding on Aardeth passed by to catch up the rest of the group that was slightly ahead. After all he had all characteristics of a leader and it wasn't up to leader to stay on the rear.

(Shouldn't this start off in it's own thread??)

Marinus stood staring in to the sunrise. It was the first in quite a while that he had seen, he was always a person not fussed on getting up early. He was thinking heavily, about the friends and family he would leave behind, and the dangers that lay ahead.

A voice broke Marinus’ concentration. He turned to see who it was, but realised the group was further ahead. Marinus ran up to them and tagged along near the back. He still wasn’t fully awake and didn’t feel like talking much at the time.

“So, what’s up?”

The man next to Marinus tried to start a conversation, but all Marinus could do was let out a yawn. Luckily someone else joined in to the conversation and Marinus was able to go back to his lazy walk. His sword, clinking against his shielded right arm was the only thing keeping him entertained.

After a couple of minutes of walking, Marinus already felt more alert and ready to talk.

“So, how long do you think it will take to get to Luminesca?”

Marinus looked up to see if anyone was going to answer. After a moments pause, he brushed his long hair to the side and tweaked the chain that was hanging off his neck. There was a symbol of courage hanging off the chain that shined bright when ever there was darkness.

Kazu, the jumpy, always ready to go type grabbed Kel's shirt sleeve. "Are we there yet??" Kazu whined. Kazu was the youngest and most annoying of the group, but also liked to provide the comic relief through all the seriosness.
The greenery all looked the same to the young flick reaper, and he was getting very impatient.

Vaan_de_Chocobo wrote:

Kel glanced at Kazu with a straight face, but said nothing. They cntinued into the forest path.

Kazu sighed. "Fine, Ignore me." As the kid of the group, he liked to annoy people. They continued to walk, seeming to wait for their destination to come to them. A vile scent filled the air, and the atmosphere seemed to change mood. Kazu's crimson eyes became narrow.
"Something or someone's coming," he growled through bared fangs. "And the smell of blood is smeared all over it." He saw that Kel already had her weapons out.

(Just so you guys know without checking her profile, Kel is an emotionless cyborg. She uses bells attached to ribbons that lace her arms for necromancy.)

It may take as long as we live, Kel's monotone voice replied in Marinus's head.

The group stopped suddenly when they heard a slight growl. The only noise to be heard was the slight tinkling of Kel's bells.

The growl was soft at first, so soft it was inaudible even in the silence of the night, but its volume grew, until the growl had transformed into a monstrous roar.

At that moment, The party was enshrouded in clouds of flame.

''Dragon!'' Sorel cried with surprise.

Sorel took in as much of the beast as he could before it blew out another column of flame. Its gleaming green skin shone with brilliance under the sunlight as it threw back its emerald head and howled.

But that's not right, he thought, dragons only live in dry places- where fire is the natural element...

Sorel glanced at the others and was unsure if he should protect them. Unfortunately, the dragon gave him no second to think; Sorel was knocked back by fire that froze him to the bone.

''C-cold...?'' he stuttered with astonisment.

And suddenly he knew of the great danger they were in.

''Stay away from the dragon's tail!'' he tried to yell, just as the enormous beast swept its tail along the forest ground.

Kazu leaped up just as the rest of the party did. The tail that blended in with the green grass swept across the forest floor. Everyone glanced at Kel, suspecting her to give orders like she always did. When none came, Kazu jumped the tail of the dragon and sped towards it.
"Guys, it's an opposite blood! It can cast both ice and fire. So use WATER!"
With that, he swung his scythe and a surge of water gushed towards the dragon's eyes.

Chapter 1 - Departure Empty
PostSubject: Re: Chapter 1 - Departure   Chapter 1 - Departure Icon_minitimeSun Nov 02, 2008 2:49 am

Marinus’ pendant began to glow, as the group continued to march forward. At first, he did not take notice of it, but as it began to glow more bright, it was certain that something was coming.

The roar of the dragon startled Marinus. He had been in many fights, but he was never as good against flying monsters. As the flames grew close to the group, he could felt a chill go down his armoured right arm.

“What?”
whispered Marinus

As the dragon came closer again, an order was yelled out.

''Stay away from the dragon's tail!''

As the order was yelled out the dragon’s tail came spinning against the ground. Marinus leapt into the air as the tail came swooping under him, it felt as if time had slowed down. By the time Marinus hit the ground, the dragon was ready for it’s second attack.

"Guys, it's an opposite blood! It can cast both ice and fire. So use WATER!"

When Marinus heard this, he remembered hearing about these type of dragons. He rushed towards the dragon and swung his body around. In one swift move his sword left his hand and spun rapidly towards the dragon’s neck. The sword sliced at the scales of the dragon, then fell back down towards Marinus. He caught the sword as he finished his spinning attack. To Marinus’ surprise, his attack had done little damage, almost no damage to what he expected.

“Damn, that thing is strong. We’ll need to find a way to take it out quick!”

Chapter 1 - Departure Empty
PostSubject: Re: Chapter 1 - Departure   Chapter 1 - Departure Icon_minitimeSun Nov 02, 2008 3:24 am

As the party was heading down the road, further more towards the forest that laid ahead strong burst of wind collided against Aardeth; there was something wrong he could tell. Moment later silent growl resounded through the night and echoed through his ears, it was coming from the forest and it was becoming louder, as something great is approaching.

Aardeth held his staff firm in his right hand prepared to counter anything that might come out of the forest. Once soft and mildly silent growl now became vicious roar that uncovered huge dragon. It was not usual to find dragon in these lands but Aardeth heard the tales people told of sleeping dragons, somewhere in the mountains.

As great beast left its cover and showed itself it unleashed column of flame down upon the party. Flame wrapped around Aardeth and if beast was more precise he would have been burn to ashes, there was no time to react but Aardeth was never to make same mistake twice.

Leaping back Aardeth stood firm on the ground preparing to unleash his magic upon foul beast yet was distracted with the sweep of the tail that came right at him. Pushing away from the ground Aardeth jumped in the air and over the tail that flew right under him.

Never before Aardeth had a chance to fight a beast such tremendous or powerful as a dragon but he knew that he was up for it. Dragon turned its look towards him and fixed his great topaz eyes while preparing to unleash another column of fire at Aardeth. As column of fire flew right at Aardeth emerald stone at top of his staff began to glow with green luminous light.

Heat grew and fire clashed against Aardeth yet it had not pinned him down or burnt him alive, it wrapped around him till it went off. Shield that appeared before Aardeth in moment of the impact disappeared together with the flames. He was safe for now but dragon's eyes were still fixed on him.

With one quick motion of the hand Aardeth made the earth beneath tremble and explode as water from underground erupted out of it and flew forward aiming the dragon. Column of water crashed as it hit the dragon in its chest, damage it dealt was none at all, water didn’t have desirable effect but at least it turned dragon’s eyes elsewhere.

Chapter 1 - Departure Empty
PostSubject: Re: Chapter 1 - Departure   Chapter 1 - Departure Icon_minitimeSun Nov 02, 2008 11:47 am

There really much to say about /kitsune's life. She basically did the same thing everyday. She served a woman who really doesn't remember much of her path except she has been recovering her memories little by little as the days pass by. For now, all that she remembers is that she's from a high class family. Isn't really sure how high she is but she feels she still has something to do, a duty to fulfill.

She keeps remembering things by dream she keeps having from time to time. Each time it's a continuation from the last dream. And at the end,it's like a to be continued...

That's all Kitsune knows about herand probably all that girl knows about herself. Kitsune has become reallyclose to her as she serves her. She called her Luna since she doesn't remember her real name, at the moment.

Kitsune has come across her path some time ago and had taken her in since she seemed a bit week and alone. She gave her food, water , and shelter. She took care of her and they became goodm friends. They shared happiness, friendships, sad moments, memories.

They were located in a strange place where it was actually unknown to many people, except for some people that know Kitsune and they also might know about a girl that Kitsune had found which seemed to have high quality clothes but that's basicly all they know incase someone asks about the girl or remember who she really is or anything.

So, another day came. Kitsune usually wakes up early around 9am and opens the all house curtains so that the light may illuminate the house, and cook breakfast. Then she would normally set it up in the table and go up to wake up Luna. She was a drag to wake up, but after she opened the olf fashioned curtains, that would usually be it and Luna would wake up and do get ready for another anonimous day. There wasn't much she could do since it could be dangerous to go out incase of anything, but Luna still sometimes asked to go out and get some fresh air with Kitsune.

(Er...exotic angel, I don't know if you're supposed to post that here...)
Kazu watched the dragon attack his team mates. What a pain it was. H e realized that it had the tough green hide, and that if they were to going to kill it fast, they would need to skin it first.
"Damn," he muttered under his breath. He charged again, yelled an elemental spell, and swung his scythe again. As he hit the dragon, his scythe turned a slight azure color and sent another wave of water at it.
Suddenly the dragon roared in fury. It opened its mouth and charged a huge ball of ice energy.
'Hit it NOW!!!' Kazu yelled at the top oh his lungs. 'IN THE MOUTH!'
(Sorry, guys. I have to type quotation marks with ' becase my shift button is gay.)

From the wood west of the path, three pinpricks of light glowed, and began to grow steadily. They seemed to be moving closer. From the shadow then, stepped a form, slight but straight and erect. From his mouth and eyes blazed light, as if he held suns concealed behind his face. The light shined, and his song poured forth. He sang the doom of men and worlds, and this beast would not resist him. His sorcerous light smashed into the fell beast, setting the road aglow with prismatic light.

Chapter 1 - Departure Empty
PostSubject: Re: Chapter 1 - Departure   Chapter 1 - Departure Icon_minitimeMon Nov 03, 2008 1:49 pm

“Hit it NOW! IN THE MOUTH!” – Aardeth heard as Kazu yelled but seemingly there was no way to satisfy orders given. And when he though of a spell he might use to reach his goal it was already too late. He could see a figurine in the distant forest and as three pin shaped lights flew through razing the air.

Flash of prismatic light echoed through Aardeth's keen elven eyes setting him blind for a while. As a reflex he closed his eyes so couldn't tell what has happened, all he could hear was roar that burst out of beasts lungs assumingly let out in moment of an impact. Dragon was hit Aardeth could see it clearly now once he opened his eyes yet once again he could tell that effect wasn't desirable.

Three pins of light that came flying from the forest smashed against dragon's scales and made them crack a little but still not enough to harm it. Spreading its wings wide dragon pushed off from ground and set flying in the air looking down on the party already aiming at Aardeth again. Once again massive maw of the beast opened creating line of crimson fire and unleashing it upon the ground.

Jumping off aside Aardeth took shelter behind one of the bigger stones that laid next to road. It was enough to protect him from upcoming blast of fire that broke to numerous minor flames that flew to all sides. Itharian, Aardeth's fellow hawk was somewhere out there flying freely through the air and it felt wrong to call him now but Aardeth doubted he could overcome this beast without him. Putting thumb and pointing finger of his free left hand in his mouth Aardeth whistled calling forth his animal companion.

Before Itharian was to appear Aardeth felt ground beneath him tremble. Dragon was once again at land, it was more or less fair fight again. Stepping out from his shelter Aardeth placed his staff in his left hand and with his right pulled out his katana that now stood firmly in his hand. Calling once again for his sorcery Aardeth's staff began to glow, together with his blade.

Blade of his katana once pure silver now began aquatic blue as stretches of water danced circling around it. Stone once emerald green that stands atop of elf's staff began to sparkle as sapphire in icy blue. Dragon's eyes were once again fixed on the elven wizard that slashed relentlessly with his water enchanted blade over dragon's hide hopping to brake his firm armor and truly first results were here.

Another hit safely delivered cut off one of the dragon's scales and set it fly. Here where dragon's armor held a hole Aardeth saw an opportunity he was not to miss. When Aardeth was to stab with his blade through dragon's flesh he felt wave of heat as sweat began to drop off from him. As he lifted his eyes he saw globe of fire flying right at him yet he was quick to react and before sphere hit its target Aardeth pushed his staff forth heavily and summoned tendrils of icy cold water that seemed as if they were reaching of magical stone. Tendrils wrapped around the globe and turned it off before it could reach Aardeth.

(I hope you don’t mind when I control dragon alike, or when I write effect of your attacks upon it such as Erk’s now, if you do I can change just let me know)

PostSubject: Re: Chapter 1 - Departure   Chapter 1 - Departure Icon_minitimeWed Nov 05, 2008 8:30 am

(Sorry, guys. My replies are short and indescriptive. If I had more time, it would be better...)
Kazu smiled as Aardeth took out his katana. It was a pretty blade, and a powerful one too.
Kazu positioned his scythe, Blood Song, and slipped a japanese character on the hilt. It was the water symbol. The character glowed a light azure on the black-crimson blade before it sank in.Then swinging it into full momentum, he striked its scales multiple times before retreating. Water gushed after each stroke, and the emerald inflicted sparks that danced to and fro. Kazu managed to hack off a small section of scales. He made a face. This was going to be troublesome.
The dragon let a roar of fury. It was frustrated by all the attacks that was barraging its precious armor. The dragon fell in surprise as Kazu slashed at its feet. Everyone jumped at the same time.

(Exotic Angel, pm me. Um, you're in Luminesca, right? Would you like me to be Luna then? She's a goddess, by the way...or were you talking about the princess of Luminesca? Hmmm...)

Kel watched as Erk, Aardeth, and Kazu attacked and began to make progress. Her pupils dilated as she observed the emerald beast.

"Hitpoints 1085 out of 178425," Kel announced as she dodged the falling dragon swiftly."Light is the weakness. If not magically equipped, target the tongue."

Kel's readings had never failed, and she began to move her hands, causing the bells attached to her to tinkle with a strange melody. The ground shook violenty, as bony hands rose and sprung through the earth beneath them, locking their grasps onto the befallen dragon. The dead bodies of those that had been buried in the forest soil rose steadily, covering the dragon in a layer of foul-smelling flesh and bones.

The dragon's skin gradually began to disintegrate, causing the giant beast to squirm in pain.

"Someone," Kel said mechanically,"Finish it off."

Chapter 1 - Departure Empty
PostSubject: Re: Chapter 1 - Departure   Chapter 1 - Departure Icon_minitimeThu Nov 06, 2008 2:17 am

Marinus watched helplessly as his allies attacked with all their might. A few managed to hack away the tough scales, but not nearly enough for Marinus to join in the fight. A sudden bright light from the forest blinded him for a few seconds. He did not know where the light came from, but as he saw a powerful mage appear from behind the trees, he knew that their luck was about to turn around.

The dragon continued to attack them, swiping at them with it’s large tail and trying to snatch them up with it’s sharp jaws. Marinus was lucky to escape a near-fatal bite from the dragon. As the dragon’s head came barging past Marinus, he tried once again to pierce the scales. This time he stabbed the dragon with as much power as he could muster. This did penetrate the scales, but it still did little damage to the beast.

The dragon leapt back into the air for one more attack, though it only just noticed the warrior mage, who held on to it’s back, swiping away it’s precious scales. The dragon roared as loud as it could and dived at the ground, almost crushing Marinus as it smashed against the ground.

“Light is the weakness. If not magically equipped, target the tongue."

Marinus stepped back, as the ground beneath him shook. He had never seen magic that raised the dead, yet he knew now was not the time to stand in awe. As the living dead covered the dragon, a horrible odour smothered the air. Marinus couldn’t believe his eyes when he saw that the corpses were simply melting away the dragon’s scales.

“Someone, finish it off”

Without a second thought, marinus charged at the dragon, then leapt into the air. With all his power, he drove his sword deep into the neck of the dragon, narrowly missing it’s skull. As Marinus landed, he ripped out his sword, so it would inflict more damage to the wound he already created. The monster thrived in pain as the sword was viciously pulled out.

The whole party was exhausted. Grateful for Kel's leadership and the mysterious one's aid, Kazu plopped onto the floor, his legs feeling like spaghetti. As a novice flick reaper, he always got excited over every little thing he fought, and in the end, he was always tired.
But was the dragon dead? Kazu was not sure. He looked at the rest of the party cautiously, his eyes asking if they wanted him to check.

Sorel thought his party had the strangest abilities: ability to control the dead, ability to sing powerful spells, ability to fight with so much skill...

He felt left out, weak. Sorel instinctively healed their group.

He watched the sky turn dark into night. The group was silent as they decided to camp for the night. He started a fire, to cook food for supper.

"I'll go hunting," Sorel suggested to, again, no one in particular.

Kazu slumped to the ground, tired and hungry. He smiled weakly at Sorel for healing him, and for cooking. He eyed the food hungrily, holding back from pouncing.

Chapter 1 - Departure Empty
PostSubject: Re: Chapter 1 - Departure   Chapter 1 - Departure Icon_minitimeTue Nov 18, 2008 4:11 am

Marinus was pleased with himself, it wasn’t everyday he was able to help kill a dragon, a rare treat for him. He wiped the blood off his word and put it back into it’s sheath. Marinus walked back over to the group, who were setting up camp.

"I'll go hunting,"

Marinus knew this man was yet again talking to himself, but Marinus was intrigued by the fields around him, and the woods in front of him. He got up and walked over to the man.

“Well, I guess I’ll help as well. There’s quite a few of us and we’ll need quite a lot of food.”

With that, Marinus and Sorel walked off. It was not long before Marinus tried to start a conversation.

“By the way, I never got your name, what was it?”

As the two walked along, they heard a rustling in a bush. Marinus drew his sword, expecting to find himself a tasty rabbit, but instead a wolf jumped out, knocking marinus over. The wolf was massive and had Marinus pinned down, the only thing stopping the wolf from ripping him to shreds was his armoured right arm.

After a little struggle, marinus got free from the wolf, shuffling backwards so he could stand back up. The wolf came at the two again with another jumping attack. The wolf targeted Marinus as he drew his sword and clash with the wolf. The two were locked in a battle of strengths, Marinus’ sword was stuck in the wolf’s mouth, and neither was about to give up. Marinus was the successor of the fight and he managed to drag the wolf down and free his sword, but the wolf was quick getting to it’s feet and the fight once again continued.

As Erk settled down in the glow of the firelight, his sharp elven features came into focus. His eyebrows were thin and fine, rising above mulberry eyes that sparkled with barely concealed intelligence. He had a high forehead, and his purple-tinged hair ran down the small of his back in a thin braid, under his scarlet cloak. His small eyes flicked across the others sitting around the fire, a cursory scan of his company, before he turned to his food.

"So, where are you lot headed?" Erk's soft, musical voice chimed between bites of a hard roll.

(aahhh, really sorry guys. I've been so busy, I just couldn't get on the computer)

Kel turned to stare at Erk. Her eyes moved from him to the rest of the party.

''The objective is to find Luminesca. We will start searching in the Meadows of Luteska. The old tale of Luminesca states we must search for a land of 'eternal light' and retrieve the Crown of Fluorescence, which is rumored to be located in the Meadows,'' Kel replied as she bluntly stuck her finger into a pot of boiling soup over the fire and noticed it was not ready.

Kel once again focused her manga eyes on Erk. ''Damage report, sir?''

(When she say damage report, she's asking if you want to know how injured you are)

(Erk appeared from out of the woods a few minutes ago. How would she know my name?)

"I'm fine. I can keep track of my own limbs, thank you." Erk swallowed the last bite of his roll, and took a swig of wine from a skin hanging from his belt. The elf rose, soundless, and silently faded into the night's shadow, as he left the road and entered the forest, his graceful elven form disappearing into the blackness beyond their fire. His display of power had been draining, and he required time alone to reflect and meditate.

(I'm sorry...x.o I didn't remember.)

Kel watched Erk leave, wondering whether or not to trust him. Then again, he had saved them from the ferocious dragon.

She spoke in her clear and robotic voice,''May I ask you to join us?''

Kazu yawned and stretched.
''Yeah. It would be great if we could add another party member.''
As they waited for the elf's reply, he looked up at the moon. Stars were filling the night sky, lighting up the dark night. The moonlight glowed softly.

". . . I will think on it." His reply came muffled and distant, almost extinguished by the foliage he had vanished into. Then they heard him no more.

Chapter 1 - Departure Empty
PostSubject: Re: Chapter 1 - Departure   Chapter 1 - Departure Icon_minitimeSun Nov 23, 2008 11:33 pm

Marinus and Sorel still fought the wolf. It was big and strong, easily giving the duo a challenge. Each time Marinus went to swing at the wolf, it knew exactly when Marinus would swing at it. This was a difficult task for marinus, since each time the wolf blocked an attack, the less time Marinus had to figure out his next move.

“Quickly, distract the wolf, I’ll come from behind and finish it off from there”
Ordered Marinus.

Sorel distracted the wolf long enough for Marinus to sneak up behind, and with one massive blow, pierced the wolf’s back and split it’s spine into two parts. The wolf collapsed to the ground, motionless in a puddle of blood.

“Well, will this be enough for the group, or would we have to go hunt for the rest of the wolf’s family?”

Marinus was satisfied by the size of his slaughter and couldn’t wait to get back to camp for some food. Marinus cleaned his sword of the blood and put it back into it’s sheath. He then picked up the dead wolf and swung it on to his back.

“Well, what now?”

A rumble could be heard in Marinus’ stomach as he asked the question. He was waiting for a reply from his new companion.

Chapter 1 - Departure Empty
PostSubject: Re: Chapter 1 - Departure   Chapter 1 - Departure Icon_minitimeWed Nov 26, 2008 7:25 am

Sorel had been hunting with Marinus, and heard the man ask for his name. At least someone here actually talks, Soren thought to himself.

''My name is Soren. Soren Castelle. And you're Marinus, right?''

Just then, an enormous wolf came into the clearing. It began to attack Marinus, tackling him and causing him to fall over.

''Marinus!'' Sorel shouted just as the wolf bit down on Marinus's shoulder, but luckily, drew no blood because of his armor. Sorel shoved the wolf sideways, allowing Marinus enough time to get back on his feet.

''Hurry, kill it!'' Sorel urged as he waved his arms wildy in front of the angry wolf as a distraction. Marinus brought down his sword, onto the wolf's back, and split its spine into halves.

"Well, will this be enough for the group, or would we have to go hunt for the rest of the wolf’s family?" Sorel heard Marinus question.

"This should be enough," Sorel gave the slain wolf a satisfied pat. ''Let's head back to camp and gut it there," he suggested as he heard Marinus's stomach growl, and laughed.

The two men started back to the camp, following the smoke of the campfire that drifted high into the night sky.

(Sorry, I didn't have time to go on ffd much >.<)
