"just. disappointed...again" she said mostly towards jimi and sighed then pulled on a smile and held out her hand

"well welcome to the academy then....er... um.. who-ever-you-are! im kairi." she said and gave one of her smiles again then turned

' how come when i want people around they are never there and then when i want a moment to myself they are all over...' she thought but looked down at her feet

"so... do you have a name?" she asked looking back up at him. he was rather odd. with the blue hair and the white outfit... it was unusual. not as unusual as the time she accidentally gave herself rabbit ears but it was still unusual enough to perk her curiousityl

'So, her name is Kairi', Sonic thought as he gazed into her eyes. 'She's lying about her feelings'. He shook her smooth, wet hand as she held it out. Sudddenly her hand slowly began to freeze. Sonic looked over to the man standing next to Kairi. He looked at her again.
"My name is Sonic. Sorry about your hand," he said while uncomfortably pointing at it.

kairi felt her eye twitch as she looked at her hand that started to glow a soft blue which turned to water and pulled the water into her hand

"yea. its fine. nice to meet you sonic." she said and looked over at him "water helps with healing the body." she said and looked at her hand where the scars where

"well. some things" she mumbled and flexed her hand the cold still tingling the tips of her fingers

"so then sonic. if your new here why are you out so late and to the library at that?" she asked him a little confused as to why he was there in the first place. if he was new then he didnt have any assignments or maybe he was just one of those book worm types... 'why am i so interested... probably just trying to find that distraction from my own studying' she thought and let out a slight chuckle

Sonic huh? And an ice adept? You'll be a great addition to the academy. I read your profile before your arrival though, Cid is looking forward to your being here and I trust his judgement.

Shinu took his hand with his temperature about twenty degrees higher than normal to counter his ice powers. Changing his temperature was relatively easy, but conjuring fire or ice was an entirely different story.

It's nice to meet you Sonic, and before I forget, Faina, can I have a word with you please? I'm sorry to be so rude, but the issue is pressing.

Faina blinked and blushed when she realized Shinu was talking to her She'd been spacing out and hadn't caught most of the conversation... Did he want her to answer a question...? Crap.

Uhm, I'm sorry, what, Shinu?

She's a healer. Sonic was glad for that. If she hadn't have stopped the freezing, her hand would've been frozen completely. He forgot to bring some un-freezing herbs with him too. He mentally noted carelessness.
"Nice to meet you too, Kairi," Sonic said as he put his hands in his pockets. He wondered what had happened to her hand as he studied it. Could've been for a number of reasons. Sonic smiled.
"Nice to meet you Mr. Shinu," responded Sonic with a friendly smile as he took his hand from his pocket to shake Shinu's. His hand was warm. Sonic was surprised but didn't say anything. "I'm glad Mr. Cid approves of me." He looked back to Kairi.
"I'm lost. I need to find where I'm supposed to go. I'm a transfer student. I just happened to be walking by here." He looked at her hand. "May I ask what happened to your hand?"

Excuse us please. I'm sorry Sonic, I really don't mean to be rude. We have a mission coming up so I have to make sure Faina here is ready. She and I are the only two summoners at the Garden so it's essential we're on common ground.

Shinu walked back towards his research lab to have a word with Faina in private. It was a conversation that he didn't see fit to have in front of someone merely trying to make himself comfortable in the Garden.

"oh.. my hand? battle wound" she said and held up her other hand taking the book out of it

"see. they match" she chuckled slightly and sighed then blinked

"well. if cid aready knows your here... then i guess you go and ask him which dorm you should stay in." she said and tapped her lip in thought "i guess i could take you. i have been in need of a break. alright then. follow me." she said and waved slightly to shinu and faina as a goodbye smiling lightly as she started walking then stopped and turned around

"coming sonic?" she asked

"Alright then, don't worry about it," called Sonic after Shinu. "Bye then." Summoners?! That girl and him, Summoners?! Amazing...
Kairi seems nice, in Sonic's opinion. "Battle wound... Yeah I'm coming," said Sonic, walking down the steps & next to Kairi.

Faina cocked her head and followed silently after Shinu. So this was it. Now or never- it was time to finally learn something useful.
