So much was made of Yuna being a female lead in FFX-2, and that being a big statement to the female audience that FF attracts. How do you all feel about the job they did though? After rethinking it, I think it did more damage to the female gamer image than anything else. Of course we all know about the outfits, but even just the fact that the whole quest was not to save the world, but to find her man. Does anyone else see a problem with this?

I'm on the fence. Yes, being a female gamer, I'm disappointed that she only wanted to get Tidus back. On the other hand, I thought it was sweet that she went through all the trouble to do so--I never would, I don't think. I would have much rather seen her save the world, though, and finding Tidus as a second goal.

I don't know, though, I never finished the game! xD

Well they do sorta save the world. I'm just wondering why any female lead in a video game has to be half naked. Tomb Raider is the closest thing to a real female hero, and even she had to have big breasts.

I know! I love Lara--I have since I was 10 and dressed up as her--but her outfits and breast size annoy me sometimes! She really doesn't need them at all, but sex sells, huh?

It certainly does. Even though the games were catering to their female audiences, they also needed to sale to the biggest group of buyers. 20-29 year old males. It's sad, but it is what it is. I'd like to see a female protagonist that has a male supporting her instead of the other way around.

Same here! It's not fair the girl's just there to wear the skimpy outfits and provide help! Well, not in all of the games, but enough to make me mad!

Well maybe one day a guy like James can create a game that has a strong female lead!

There's plenty of games with strong female leads.

For example

Jill Valentine (Resident Evil)
Joanna Dark (Perfect Dark)
Nariko (Heavenly Sword)

Also, I'll have to go through a couple of years of uni before I can actually produce games. And I still havn't come up with a female lead for a game :\ Been trying o think of one though.

Never played the last one, but unfortunately, the only thing that came to mind when you said Jill Valentine was those legs of hers in the movie! Haha sorry. But I will agree she wasn't the typical no waist huge bust female lead.

BTW, ifi I had to come up with a female lead, I couldn't do it either lol.
