Shinu walked down to the end of the hall and set his bag down at room 001. Finally, a place he could call his own. He excitedly opened the door and couldn't believe his eyes. Share a room?! How could it be possible? Shinu was an only child, a big only child. This was going to be interesting. Hopefully he and his roommate got along, that would set the tone for the rest of the term.

He set his things down on the right side of the room, apparently it was his since there was a welcome card on that dresser with his name on it. He plopped himself down on a seat near the desk and began to open up the card...

At the end of the hall Johnathan found his dorm room, dorm room 001.

The door was already open, obviously his roommate was here already. Johnathan wlaked into the room and looked at his roommate. A man that seemed to be around his age stoof next to a dresser.

Johnathan placed his bag down on the vacant bed and turned to greet his roommate.

"Hello, my name is Johnathan Grieves." He said calmly

Shinu raised his eyebrow and looked up from where he was reading his card. Quickly he set it back on his desk. He stood and extended his hand out to Johnathan.

Nice to meet you Johnathan, I'm Shinu. I just got here so you haven't missed anything exciting really. It looks like we got the best room though, all three windows lead to amazing view. One goes out to the ocean, one to a volcano, and I think I can make out a distant city over the mountains out that way.

After the two shook hands, Shinu sat back down on his bed and picked up his welcome card.

We both got a card welcoming us to Balamb Garden, we should check it out to make sure there aren't any instructions on it.

Grieves sat on his bed and took the letter in hand. He looked at it and wondered what it could be as he opened the letter...

Shinu read over his letter quickly, reading was something he'd done all his life, and sadly, he couldn't enjoy a simple letter because it took him seconds to finish it.

Blah!

He tossed the letter back down on the desk.

Tell me something I don't know. Why tell us all about a Garden we already signed up for? A map or something would have been more useful, this place is huge! Have you been finding your way around alright so far?

"I haven't had any problems with it so far." Grieves said throwing the basic information in his trash, "So what are you here for?"

Summoning. It's something new so far. In fact, I am the holder of the only discovered Guardian Force in the history of our world. Her name is Shiva, she's an ancient ice goddess that has fused with me. My research has shown there could be more, and Balamb Garden wants to harness that power before it falls into the wrong hands. I'm guessing you're pretty damn strong, or else you wouldn't have been assigned to room with me. You see... I can't fight.

Shinu looked over at Johnathan, not sure how well that last statement would be received. He seemed like such an accomplished fighter, and some nerd science boy talking about power when he couldn't fight could be insulting.

"You will be fine. Summoners and magic users usually don't fight in close quarters." Grieves said calmly, "But it is your will that determins if you are a SeeD or not. Show no fear, and fight with all your being."

Ok, Shinu knew one thing about Johnathan, he was going to stick by him. Words of cofidence like that are exactly what Shinu needed if he was ever going to do this whole SeeD thing. He couldn't be a little lab punk forever.

Thanks for the confidence Johnathan, it really does mean a lot. I can't guarantee much for my fighting skill, but I can promise if we're ever in a war together you can count on me to give it my all.

Shinu felt so rude... how could he be so impolite.

"Its alright. I study blades. Knives and swords pretty much." Grieves said calmly opening his bag uncovering his daggers and twin longswords. "These are some of the weapons ill be training with."
