Oh god...... I can just imagine Jack Thompson's reaction to the Wii control scheme..... It probably involved some form of foaming at the mouth before a sanctimonious tirade against video games. >_>

That's a very good point. It comes with a capatalistic economy, you have to take the good and the bad.

Video games have been blamed for stuff since they came out, even Mario was accused of promoting violence before... Plus, some people just feel better having something to blame for things that have happened, like that one mom who started rumors of EverQuest being a horrible game just because it was on her sons computer when he commited suicide. I even remember when the Legend of Zelda was accused of promoting murderous actions.

Although there are plenty of stupid games out there that involve crime and violence as a central plot, i dont think it would actually promote those actions in real life, like Grand Theft Auto. That game has quite a bit of crime and violence in its plot, but it doesnt promote people grabbing a gun and running around causing problems.

Wow, i didnt know i could act so mature when i choose to cyclops

It's funny how people react so bad to games like GTA, Zelda, Gears of War, etc. When games like Madworld get through without much bashing. I think to solve the problem, they should make every violent game in the style of Frank Miller's comics Razz

In all seriousness it's down to the mental health of the person, and their ability to differ a game from real life.

^Agreed... Manhunt 2 wasn't nearly as bad as some people say. Hostel 2, as i've said many times, is much worse. It doesn't matter whether you're controlling the character or not, Hostel 2 or Manhunt 2, which one looks more realistic?

And i'm suprised nothing was said about Madworld, especially since it was on the Wii and that it was so gory... Ah well. Who knows what the media are thinking any more?

There was mention of it in an England newspaper. I'll try to dig up the article.

Well, this is the closest thing I could find
