Shinu knew he couldn't expect his mother's home cooked meals, but Cid promised him if he came to Balamb that he would eat good. Actually, it was more of a promise to his mother than it was to him. Where to start though? He didn't want to be the pig that devoured all the food before the others had a chance!

Still, he pressed on into the cafeteria, his hopes high and expectations low. Then his jaw nearly hit the floor. The cafe was built in a circle, a large seating area in the middle with the outer permiter lined with every type of food one could imagine. The first thing he would have to get... a hotdog! Balamb's chef was famous for them!

Before he could rush over, he looked over his shoulder to see who had just walked in behind him.

Kryst had sauntered into the immense cafeteria. The room being as spacious as it was, had impressed her. She closed her eyes and caught several drafts of enticing aromas that lingered in the air. A little smile formed on her faintly tanned face. Her eyes flickered open and fell onto a rather tall individual not too far away. Kryst's smile faded as she contined to eye him.

"So, who are you?"

Why I'm Shinu! It's definitely a pleasure to meet you!

Shinu was becoming more fond of Cid by the minute. These Garden girls were amazing! Shinu hoped this pace could keep up forever. She hadn't stopped looking at him, so he felt he had some more explaining to do.

He said this as he started to walk towards her. At this point he was close enough to impose his height, almost a foot of differential. This was a cute one that was for sure.

What about you? I'd sure like to know some more about you.

After his last line, she stepped back to put enough distance between them. Her arms crossed over her chest almost instinctively. Kryst tilted her head a bit to look him in the eyes.

"I transferred here to learn about sword magic. Cid insisted it was better than my old school--Not sure about that."

Her tone at the end matched her vicious eye movement. From the soles of his shoes, to the hair on his head, every millisecond of it she appeared defiant.

In Shinu's mind, he was happy, this was a hostile girl, not bad though, he never backed down from a challenge.

Why so feisty?

Shinu laughed and walked off from her towards the hotdog stand. He leaned over the counter and checked out their product. Whoaaaaaa these smelled great!

I'll have two please.

The lady behind the counter handed him two enormous hot dogs. Smiling, he yelled across the room at the girl.

You know Balamb is more famous for their hot dogs than their academics! Care to join me?

Shinu waved her over before sitting down at one of the many, many tables to choose from.

The speed of her walk slowed to a mere crawl as she got closer. Kryst looked away from him towards a dish full of pasta and the like. Her head slightly turned back to him to respond.

"Hot dogs aren't good for you, y'know? Then again.."

His height and the way his clothing fitted on him made her rethink her previous statement.

"I take it you eat...A LOT."

The beginning of a smirk slid into place on her lips.

Not good for you?! You're one crazy character. All this fat and grease is very good for you! Well alright, maybe better for me than it is for you. Trust me though, what I put into my body doesn't get the final say, my workout regiment is more than enough to counter it. But to answer your question, if it even warrants an answer... yes, I eat A LOT.

Shinu laughed, this girl was funny, definitely a sense of humor that would be needed amongst their hours of training.

So maybe I should order for you then. What will you have? Pasta and a tiny salad, light dressing?

He winked before sliding her the hotdog.

Kryst plopped down at the table and pushed the hot dog lightly back towards Shinu. Her left arm came up and rested on the surface. She propped up her head on the palm of her hand and leaned a bit away from him.

"Tell you what--You can keep your hot dog, but get me a plate of Lo Mein? I'd appreciate at least that much from you..as far as food goes."

Once again, the small smile formed across her lips, but it seemed to stay this time around.

Well at least I don't have to worry about you eating all the hot dogs and there not being enough for me!

He quickly devoured the second hot dog, leaving no remains of course.

I guess I can pick up some food for you, I'm going to need a few more hotdogs if we're going to accomplish anything here. And since that's the least I can do, wait until you see the most I can do.

Shinu flashed her a smile before getting up and searching the directory for the "foods unfamiliar to him" section. After that failed, he typed in "Lo Mein" and booth 6 popped up. He walked over and ordered the Lo Mein. While he waited, he grabbed a dozen hot dogs and set them down on the table.

I'll be back in a flash!

He walked back over and grabbed the plate. He took a sniff of it and his head reared back. He walked back over to the table, holding the plate as far as he possibly could from him. Finally he set it down in front of her before taking his seat.

How in the world could this be good for you?

"Is that a retort to the hot dog remark I made earlier?"

Kryst picked up a pair of chopsticks and picked around at the pile of fried noodles before her.

"Thanks though."

She lifted her chopsticks that had less than a handful of noodles clasped into it. Her head turned to him as she pointed the sticks at her plate.

"Feel free to try it." Kryst offered before digging back into her food.
