Retort? No! That's a serious question! It smells like death. If death is what you wanted though, you're welcome.

Shinu started digging in to his hotdogs again. He was no stranger to the art of hotdog eating contests. He put down his sixth one before he heard her offer him some of her death food. She didn't say it like a challenge, but Shinu's competitive mind made it that way.

Alright, I think I will. If I can figure out how.

He picked up the chopsticks, fumbling them around after finally getting them into a "comfortable" position. He placed them into her pile of food, and after about 30 seconds of pure torturous struggle... he slammed the chopsticks down.

What is this a trick set?

He raced over to the counter and came back with a fork.

This time he managed to get a bit of food on his fork. He moved it up to his mouth, and looked back at his new acquaintance hoping to get some reassurance before he actually went through with this.

Kryst held up a fist near her mouth and tried to silence her giggling. Her shoulders started to shake.

"When you slammed the chopsticks on the table, I thought you were gonna just dive into my food with your hot dog eating hands. You're ridiculous."

She held up her right hand holding the chopsticks in the "correct" position in her fingers. Kryst made clipping motions at him as she spoke up, "It's no trick set--it's how I eat most of my food. It's a thing from where I'm from."

Yeah well, where I'm from, this is the stuff of movies. Oh well, you
only live once! Although... this is going to be the end of my once.

Shinu went ahead and slid the fork in his mouth, pulling off the Lo
Mein and chewing it around for a bit. A few seconds later, he wasn't
dead yet, so he went ahead and swallowed it. Finally he came back to
the real world and realized...


Hey! This is pretty good! Lo Mein you said?! Alright, it's better than
it smells! I'm going to go with hotdogs for now, but I may have to add
Lo Mein to my list of "foods to eat that aren't hotdogs".

He started laughing again, glad he was at least bold enough to try the
death food. He didn't die, and it was pretty good. Not hotdog good, but
good still. He looked back at the girl.


You know, I never got your name!

Her chopsticks flew to her mouth and she was soon munching on noodles. She picked at the remaining noodles on her plate.

"Kryst..Fendayva." she managed to say with a mouthful of food.

Kryst swallowed her food and pointed her chopsticks at Shinu,
"Not your average woman--Again, I bet you deduced that."

She returned to her food.

Kryst huh? That's a new one. But like you said, you're definitely not the average woman, I'll give you that for sure. Either way, I think you can deduce in time, I'm no average man either... besides the size.

Shinu laughed again. He had been laughing a lot during their lunch together. Kryst was beautiful, that was for sure. Still, some beautiful girls, Shinu had enough sense to know he would be good friends with and to not try anything more than that. However, a little flirting couldn't hurt either.

So since you showed me some new food today, anything else new you care to show me? Well, also besides those amazing blue eyes of yours?

He said this with his eyes closed. Shinu's memory was great, especially when it came to girls. It was his way of showing that he knew what color her eyes were without having to look. His big grin never left his face.

After hours upon hours of constant training with his blades against the monsters in the Monster room Grieves had finally reached his limit for the day, and he was getting quite hungry to boot.

Bruised and cut up Grieves walked into the cafeteria, his longsword and daggers on his belt. Though his body ached and he was extremely tired he didn't show it. He walked to the wide variety of food and fixed up a simple bowl of rice, pork and chicken with a variation of vegies all over it.

Kryst finished off her food and placed down her chopsticks.

"I think an experimental lunch will be enough for today."

She smoothed out her skirt and got up from her seat. Her hands reached down and took hold of her empty dish. Kryst looked at Shinu,

"Nice meeting you Shinu. Perhaps we shall cross paths again--whether it will be in this academy or out in the field."

With that note of farewell, she turned and headed for the kitchen to drop off her dirty dish. Kryst then made her way for the exit. She glanced over her shoulder at a young man hovering around a counter full of food. Once she got her glimpse of him, Kryst left the cafeteria.

More than enough I suppose. It was a pleasure to meet you too Kryst.

Shinu smiled at her as she walked off to put her dish up. Before he was getting up, he spotted his roommate and yelled across the room to him.

Yo Johnathan! Come sit over here man! What the hell happened to you?

kairi felt her stomach growl as she walked into the room and her eyes widened

"AAAHHHH SO BIG!" she said and ran up to the large tables of food.

"mmm.... ahhh they have it!" she smiled her eyes sparkling as she looked at the smoked salmon

"ahhh a perfect pink look not to hot not to cold no spicey additions to ruin its already perfect taste! ahhh" she said and picked it up smiling brightly but then blinked. chop sticks. she gulped and balanced her plate on her book from class and sighed walking over to the table not far away from shinu but not by him either

she blinked setting her book to the side and even though her stomach let out a growl she blinked just staring at the chop sticks with a look of shear terror

'what am i doing i dont even know how to hold these let alone eat with them!' she thought and blinked stabbing the fish with one of the chop sticks and she blinked as it fell off back onto the plate

"meh... stupid little sticks" she grumbled under her breathe even tho her face was pink with embarresment

Nioelle walked into the cafeteria, her stomach grumbling. She walked up to the counters, hoping the food would be good.

She picked up a bowl of chicken and rice, and sat at a table, looking at everyone around her as she ate slowly.
