Sonic chomped down a few more bites than looked at Kairi as she sipped her drink. Sh looked like she had something on her mind.

kairi was completely zoned out staring at the brown coffee watching the cream swirling in it she sighed and tapped her fingers on the sides of the cup then looked up at sonic

"so. what would make you transfer here?" she asked trying to make small talk

He choked and gagged on the food as he realized what she had ask him. The subject was touchy for him, and he didn't want to get into it just yet. But he had to give her an answer. He swallowed then looked into her eyes.
"Well, I guess I needed somewhere more advanced like this place. Somewhere I could really learn new things." He looked back at his food nervously and took a bite of bread.

"oh." she said and nodded "i hope you do." she said but really wasnt looking up from the cup at all

She looked so distracted to him.
"Kairi," Sonic began after swallowing another bite, "is there something wrong?"

"oh... no just... thinking things over. things have been a little rough lately. but i know that everyone in the garden can always get through it." she smiled slightly sipping her coffee again

"I'm surprised. Things seem awfully calm around here." He began to wonder what this girl had been through. She seemed so gentle, but so worried. "Is there anything I can do to help?" he offered.

"hm? no. its alright. things... things are very tense around here lately. im just waiting for someone to snap. hoping its not me." she said and shrugged it off.

"what depressing words. sorry. this is what coffee does to me. anyway. the dorms are in the building right to the left of here. good luck. and ill see you around." she said and got up walking out of the cafe

"Seeya", he called after her. She left the cafe. Maybe he came on too strong... He had no clue what was going on, but he wanted to find out. After he had finished eating, he left the Cafe and headed for his dorm.
